The Santa Barbara Amateur Radio Club (SBARC) will enable you to watch the progress of the Santa Barbara International Marathon as it happens!
SANTA BARBARA, CA (November 29, 2009) – To see it, point your web browser to www.aprs.fi. On the map, the markers with the lead runners are labeled K6TZ-2 (a car) and KI6WEL (a bicycle).
The last of the runners are marked by N6OLT. Other support vehicles and stations will also appear. This site uses Google Maps and is always up so you can go there before the race to learn how to work with the map to give the view you want.
SANTA BARBARA INTERNATIONAL MARATHON PARTNERS WITH SELECT STAFFING TO BRING PREMIER EVENT TO SANTA BARBARA
SANTA BARBARA, CA, (APRIL 23, 2009) – The Santa Barbara International Marathon is pleased to announce its partnership with Select Staffing to bring its inaugural event to Santa Barbara.
Scheduled for December 4-6, 2009, the Select Staffing Santa Barbara International Marathon offers three days of events for beginning to expert/elite runners, community members, local and national charities, local corporations and organizations, children, and destination marathoners. Events include:
· Lecture Series (featuring two-time Olympic Marathoner Ed Eyestone) on Friday
· Health & Fitness Expo on Friday and Saturday
· Children’s Festival on Saturday
· Health & Fitness Corporate and People’s Relay on Sunday
· Marathon on Sunday

SANTA BARBARA INTERNATIONAL MARATHON ANNOUNCES CORPORATE RELAY PROGRAM
SANTA BARBARA, CA, (APRIL 8, 2009) – The Santa Barbara International Marathon is pleased to announce the Get Fit! program aimed at local businesses and organizations for participation in the inaugural event’s Health & Fitness Relay.
The three step Get Fit! program will create a healthy, fun and competitive environment to assist and motivate relay teams from local businesses, health clubs, government, law enforcement or military to participate in the inaugural event:
· Ready: Team Captains sign up and recruit team members.
· Set: Tailored training programs to match each team member’s fitness and goals along with coached workouts to assist with preparation for the race.
· Go: Teams take part in the excitement of race day, with prizes for each relay team division.
The Santa Barbara International Marathon Health & Fitness Relay has four legs:
· Leg 1: Start to Girsh Park, 6.8 miles.
· Leg 2: Girsh Park to Cathedral Oaks/La Patera, 6.4 miles
· Leg 3: CO / La Patera to South end of Turnpike at bike path, 4.7 miles
· Leg 4: Bike path @ Turnpike to Finish, 8.3 miles

SANTA BARBARA, CA, (APRIL 1, 2009) – The Santa Barbara International Marathon (SBIM) is pleased to announce the SBIM - Make It Count! Program aimed at local charities for fundraising and participation in the inaugural event.
The SBIM – Make It Count! Program incents local charities to leverage the individual marathon and/or Health and Fitness Relay Marathon events for fundraising with tools such as training programs, registration incentives and charity recognition.
